Petition for a Special Election at TWU Local 100

What Is The Problem?

TWU Local 100 is currently facing a significant leadership crisis. Following the removal of President Richard Davis under circumstances that have undermined member trust, the Executive Board plans to appoint a new President without holding a democratic election. This decision not only bypasses the voice of the membership, but also contradicts the democratic values we stand for. It effectively nullifies the recent vote of the membership in the 2024 election.

Under the bylaws, the role of President is uniquely excluded from appointments, only designation, signaling the importance of allowing members to choose their leader. The current administration’s plan to appoint a President in February 2025 until 2027, instead of establishing a designated timeframe for the interim position and holding a special election, risks alienating the membership and undermining the transparency and accountability we deserve. Their misinterpretation and misrepresentation of the bylaws must not be tolerated.
